Basically, Veeam backups to VTL and it further offloads backups to cloud. We've been using Veeam B&R for a long time already and also added AWS Glacier to it with Starwinds VTL.
Plus, if you regularly test your backups, you should be just fine. And as already mentioned, you can always deploy a new Veeam instance and restore there or extract the files from backups in the worst case. Veeam is not a kind of crappy software you need an additional guarantee for. To be fair, I've read on the forums that there should be no problems with this but no proof or testing.Īs to two backup wouldn't honestly.
VEEAM BACKUP SERVER FULL
However I have a few queries around this:ġ) Is it correct VSS backups cannot be run together? The Windows server backup takes forever to run when doing a full backup (think full backup is required when its on external hdd) and Veeam/WSB end up overlapping and WSB doesn't complete successfully.Ģ) Do I need to be running multiple backup systems if I do regular restore testing? Do others do something similar like Veeam & Windows Server Backup?Īs far as I can tell, you are correct and two VSS backups cannot run simultaneously. My thinking behind this is so we have the backups in another format in the event of any issues with Veeam. Now this is me been extra cautious but I had planned on setting up Windows Server Backup on the Hyper v Host to also do a backup maybe weekly of the VMs too. We would also rotate the external hard drives weekly so we have an offline copy too. We have Veeam backup & replication running on our VM Host (Hyper V) and backing up all the VMs successfully and my plan is to set this to an external repository (cloud) later this week.
